I was still in safe mode when I completed these steps, but hopefully this helps anyone else that's having the same problem. When I accessed the installation folder, I saw that there was an uninstall executable file. Instead, they were located in the 'AppData' folder associated with my wife's account. ![]() Before uninstalling Avast everything worked. Now I cannot get to internet, nothing will work. After that installed the new software, called F-Secure. Decided to change security program, so I unistalled Avast, everything that there is to unistall/delete. I had Avast on my old HP laptop, running Vista. I was surprised to find that the Avast Secure Browser files were not located in the normal Avast installation directory. Websites were stating to install Avast's uninstall program. When I searched online, I was surprised to find that this was a common problem. Boy, was I wrong.įirst, I attempted to uninstall with Microsoft's Add/Remove programs. Being an IT guy, I figured that this would be a quick fix. My wife told me that her laptop had Avast Secure Browser installed and she couldn't remove it.
